Art & Meaning

The Concept: The piece features a cutaway view of a Walther P38 pistol. Instead of standard bullets, the magazine is loaded with "Bullet Babies"—mechanical-looking infants wearing diving helmets and holding their own miniature pistols.

The Message: Giger intended this work as a commentary on overpopulation, which he believed was the greatest threat to civilization. The babies are "fired" into a brutal world, already armed to continue the cycle of violence and reproduction.

Biomechanical Style: It is a prime example of Giger's "biomechanical" aesthetic, merging organic human forms with cold, industrial machinery.

Authenticity: The poster in the image includes the text "MUSEUM HR GIGER" at the bottom, suggesting it may be an authentic licensed print, possibly from around 1998.

Condition: Very nice. No pin holes or tears. Clean.
