VINTAGE 1988 MIKE TYSON A/P PHOTO

This is a great authentic A/P (Associated Press) laserphoto of Mike Tyson.  This photo print is from a bout between Iron Mike and Michael Spinks. Photo is 8 x 10 inches. This great photo does not have a caption/cutline but is stamped with an A/P mark on the reverse. Photo dates to 1988. No caption. Printed on Kodak high glass photo paper.

Mike Tyson and Michael Spinks fought only once, on June 27, 1988. The highly anticipated heavyweight unification bout took place at the Convention Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where Tyson knocked out Spinks in just 91 seconds of the first round to remain undefeated.

A/P HISTORY - 1974 to 1990's:  Laserphotos usually start as an original photo print (Type 1) which was then transmitted via a Portable Picture Transmitter. The transmitter itself was a large device that was basically just a portable fax machine that could send both black and white or color photographs over long distances using telephone lines. After transmission, another device on the receiving end used lasers to copy the transmitted image information directly onto dry silver paper, which resulted in a photo realistic image.
