VINTAGE POSTCARD OIL WELL GUSHER - LUCAS WELL

This postcard was made by SZAFIRS STATIONERS of BEAUMONT TEXAS. The image is of the historic Lucas Gusher at Spindletop Hill in Beaumont. 

The "Lucas oil well" was discovered by mining engineer Anthony Lucas on January 10, 1901, which launched the modern petroleum industry, turning Texas into a major oil producer. Companies like Exxon and Texaco can trace their roots to this monumental well.

Very nice condition. Minor edge wear.
